Frequently asked questions about submissions
AI Magica is a quarterly online film competition celebrating innovative storytelling through artificial intelligence. We accept submissions year-round and announce winners every quarter (Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4), recognizing filmmakers who push the boundaries of AI-assisted cinema.
We accept short films between 2-15 minutes in length, including credits. Films must be in MP4 or MOV format with a minimum resolution of 1080p and frame rate of 24fps or 30fps.
The standard submission fee is $19 USD per film. Partner students and trainees receive a discounted rate of $14 USD per submission. Each person may submit up to three (3) films per quarter, but only one film per category.

Each submission is automatically entered into all award categories within your selected genre. Our expert jury scores films across four core criteria: Creative Vision (25%), Technical Execution (25%), AI Innovation (25%), and Storytelling (25%). Multiple judges review each film independently, and the highest-scoring film in each category receives the award.
Winners receive recognition on our website and social media platforms, plus inclusion in our quarterly winners showcase. Further details of awards and prizes will be announced soon.
We accept films that incorporate AI-generated content including text-to-image/video generation (Midjourney, DALL-E, Runway, Pika, Sora), AI video editing, voice synthesis, music generation, script generation, motion capture, and any other generative AI tools. You must be able to provide proof of AI tool usage if requested.
